I just re-read this one, and I was disappointed that it wasn't anywhere near as good as I remembered from the first time. I'm a little afraid it's because I've read more and discovered narrators I really do actually love, so coming back to this book, all I can focus on is how much Julian just honestly frustrates me. The smoking all the time and the fact that even though he supposedly has a job, we only saw him go to work once the whole book...
Plus, I hadn't remembered that the whole book was angst. By the time Julian and Danny finally get together, the book ends. We only get little snippets of them being happy along the way, and the rest is them being horrible to each other in the name of fear.
It's still and Ethan Day book, so obviously it was still a fun read, but it wasn't as awesome as I'd remembered.
