FANTASTIC! This was so much fun to read!
The blurb and the intro had me all primed to be hating Kit for being a dick, but he turned out to be my favorite character in the book. Possibly in both books. I did love that we got to see more of Greg and Aaron, and learn more about their relationship between where the movie left it in book 1 and where they were the night of the premiere. I appreciated how well Jeremy understood Greg, as it helped me understand him better also.
My favorite things: Kit, and how open and honest he tries to be as he's figuring stuff out. Jeremy, and his sweetness and innocence in spite of how hard life has been on him. And the two of them together, WOW! Amazing stuff there! I love how sweet Kit is to Jeremy, even right from the start when he drives him home and then invites him to stay. And then with the stylist and all of the other people he brought over to help. So sweet!
I adored how Jeremy wouldn't let Kit treat him badly, even when Kit didn't necessarily realize what he was doing. So many other characters--especially ones who've had some of the things happen to them that Jeremy has--would have just accepted being treated that way as their due or something. But Jeremy demanded right from the start that Kit treat him better, and it was amazing! My favorite was when Kit tried to drive off after their first lunch and Jeremy steps in front of his bike and this conversation happens:
"'You are not fucking leaving me next to a Dumpster behind a Mexican restaurant.'
'Dude--"
"Don't
dude me you closeted motherfucker.... Shove forward and give me a ride or the next time I touch your cock, it'll be to make it into a bronzed statuette before I bestow you with the Best Asshole Award."
I laughed so hard! And I loved Jeremy so much for that!
I loved that at the end all four of the men went to the Academy Awards together. Greg's line about the homo-bile TOTALLY cracked me up! It was so great to see that Greg and Aaron really are happy.
I also LOVED that I didn't see the blackmail thing with Amber coming. I'd been kind of mentally preparing myself all along for Kit to somehow turn on Jeremy and become the kind of ass who'd invite a girl to his and his boyfriend's premiere. All along, I'd been loving Kit, even knowing what he was going to do to Jeremy. When I found out why he did it, my first reaction was that I could finally love him without feeling guilty about it, and my second was wanting to wrap him up and keep him safe from her. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that the little shop girl totally punched her! Talk about vicarious satisfaction!
An amazing book, fantastically well done. This is for sure one I'll reread over and over again!
