The Book High

I've always said I'll read anything, and I really do mean that. Lately M/M romance has had my interest, but fantasy and sci-fi were my first loves and will always hold a special place in my heart. I also love histories and biographies.

Chaos - Megan Derr Spectacular! Beautiful! An amazing end to a fascinating series.

I'd been thinking before starting this one that there were a few loose ends that I wished had been tied up. And reading the blurb and seeing that this book was about YET ANOTHER new character rather disheartened me. I'd hoped that the final book would be about someone I'd gotten to know and care about through the rest of the series.

That being said, however, I was still so excited to get to find out how everything would work out.

It was difficult at first for me to care about Sasha. I couldn't help thinking that I would care more about him having lost his memory if I'd known who he was before. Seeing him with David, though, and watching him slowly succumb to David's sweetness and kindness and innocence totally made me love him. Finding out who he was honestly made me cry. It took this book--heck, the whole series--from being good to being amazing! Finding out that Sasha really was someone I'd come to know and love and want good things for in other books was spectacular. It was difficult to reconcile the mental pictures I had for Sasha and for how I'd known him before, but so SO amazing. And tying up the loose end of the ONE male character to not get a HEA in the series... amazing!

David is definitely among my favorite characters in the series. He's described as having "bone-deep sweetness" and I don't think it can be put more beautifully than that. Having him end up as the human host for Teufel was very difficult for me to be okay with at first. David was just such an amazing and lovely character and Teufel was so wretched and selfish, I was afraid we'd lose what made me love David. The way they ended up was just beautiful, and I loved getting to see him through Sasha's eyes at the end: that David hadn't lost his sweetness, he'd gained some toughness.

It was also lovely to see Teufel get to be redeemed by the end. I liked that he was able to share his side of the story and explain why he'd made the decisions he had. And the solution that the other gods had: taking his power and binding him to Licht was perfect for making sure that what happened the first time wouldn't happen again.

I also loved the little epilogue at the end where Fritz tells us how everyone will be doing in the future.

This book was good enough that it makes me tempted to go back and raise my ratings for all of the others! LOVE this series, and I look forward to reading it again.
