I remember this one being the most painful and frustrating to read. Ty and Zane aren't doing well at the beginning, they won't talk to each other, then they're around other people and CAN'T really talk to each other, and Deuce's cryptic comments along the way didn't seem to help either of them.
Now that I feel like I know them better since I've read through all of these books once already, I enjoyed this much more. It was fascinating to get to come back and be reminded just exactly how far these two have come. And Deuce's comments and questions seemed like they made much more sense this time. I still loved what Deuce told Burns at the end: that not only should they be partnered together, but they shouldn't be partnered with anyone else. Totally fits both of them!
It was fascinating also to see how much effort both Ty and Zane put into each other even in the midst of everything that happened to them on that mountain. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to revisit the strengthening of the friendship between them.
What I continue to find most spectacular about this series is how breathakingly perfect these two are for each other. They're both damaged and crazy and probably not fit for anyone else, but together they not only work, but they make each other better. It's incredible! And I loved the symmetry of it being Ty this time who came out with the difficult confession. In the first book, Zane admitted to wanting to pull Ty closer, and Ty got to be the one to respond. I love that here it's Ty telling Zane he wants him and Zane getting to respond. It feels odd saying this about these two insanely deadly men, but it's sweet!
Favorite Quotes:"Or," he said emphatically, "we could just lay here, take a nice little rest as shit explodes a safe distance away and then shoot them as they come over the rise," he offered with a flick of his finger that mimicked pulling a trigger.
Zane was addicted to Ty's kisses. They were much like Ty himself: unbridled and spontaneous, warm and gentle at times, but with just enough bite to set them on fire.
