The Book High

I've always said I'll read anything, and I really do mean that. Lately M/M romance has had my interest, but fantasy and sci-fi were my first loves and will always hold a special place in my heart. I also love histories and biographies.

Currently reading

The Mists of Avalon
Marion Zimmer Bradley
Shakespeare After All
Marjorie Garber
Armed & Dangerous - Abigail Roux This book was amazing. To be able to spend time with not only Zane and Ty, but also Julian and Cameron was incredible and just so much fun!

Ty and Zane were incredible and always, it's unbelievable how far they've come from where they started. They are still my favorite M/M couple of all time. Adding Cameron and Julian in the mix was both hilarious and fascinating as we watched these crazy tough men trying to outsmart each other.

I know there was some upset about Ms. Roux taking this one on alone, but I thought she did a remarkable job. Each of the characters still rang true, and the four of them together had me cracking up and glued to my iphone for the entire day Saturday. Definitely a worthy addition to the Cut and Run series, and a great continuation of the Warrior's Cross story. I cannot recommend this book, or either of these series, highly enough!

UPDATE 10 June 2013
I just re-read this for the first time, and have to say I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Reading this one right after the first four, I noticed some characterization differences that I didn't catch the first time. Ty's character especially is a lot different here than he was in the first four books. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to continue a series solo that you started with a partner, and I have to say again how impressed I am with what Ms. Roux accomplished.

Yes, Ty is different here, but it works. He was so frazzled and on-the-verge-of-a-nervous-breakdown-y in book four that it almost made the book not as fun to read. I loved how much more open and loving he is here.

And their sex scene in the hotel? Has to be one of the most amazingly romantic scenes of all time. These two have always been incredible together, but that scene took them to this whole other loving, kind, passionate place. Beautiful!

Favorite Quotes:
"Because ... you make me the kind of person I've always wished I was."

I will always be yours Zane--no matter where I am or where you are. I promise you that.

"I don't think I've ever been gayer than I am right now."

"Who the hell needs this many dogs anyway?"
"What's wrong with being a pet owner?" Cameron asked.
"Yeah, you pronounced 'hoarder' wrong."

Cameron sometimes wondered about his own moral makeup, that something like that could sort of turn him on.

He realized he was more tired than he'd thought if the sight of Ty searching a criminal made him jealous.

"I'm not going to kill him, Zane, just threaten them both until I feel better."

This was like National Lampoon's
Vacation, but with death, property destruction, and an Irish accent.

"Okay, I get how they found us in the car you stole."
"Borrowed," Ty said.
"Whatever, psychopath. But how did they find us after?"

"Glock, paper, scissors. I win."

"Not this." Zane argued. "We haven't had this."
Ty brushed his nose against Zane's, nodding in understanding. "We have it now."

"And hell, if someone's going to be coming to kill me, I'd really appreciate it if you'd stick around with your guns and pointy things 'til morning, you know?"

"I think I could pull anything off if it meant waking up with you every morning."
