I very nearly didn't finish this book--something I NEVER do. I'm fairly new to exploring the BDSM sub-genre in M/M and so far all of the books I've read, the Dom is focused on helping/teaching/healing the sub and taking care of him. That certainly didn't seem to be the case the first time these two are together after Cal finds Gabriel. It took me three tries and finally skipping the rest of that scene to be able to bring myself to read the rest of this book.
It did get better after that, somewhat. I'm still so very confused how this was nominated for any readers choice awards, let alone won.
