1.5 stars
It kills me that this book was this bad. It was such a fun concept, and I was really looking forward to reading it. It was just so badly handled and so poorly written I nearly didn't even bother finishing it.
The reason it's getting the .5 star is because I really did like Connor, although I wish he were a little better-developed.
The reason it's only getting the .5 star is because it felt like it couldn't make up its mind. The writing was juvenile enough to make me think this was trying to be a YA book, but then the sex was graphic enough to make that impossible as well.
And the way the relationship developed between Connor and Kyle was just a little to ridiculous to be believable.
Intolerance and prejudice are indeed important themes, and should be explored in literature. They just deserve better handling than they got in this book.
